Tea for Two...

For Alexis' first birthday, she got the Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Tea Set and the Laugh & Learn Cookie Jar. The tea set comes with 2 cups, 3 pretend desserts and talking tea pot. They are both cute toys for a little girl. Well, apparently Austin and Aaron thought they were pretty great, too... for themselves! I walked into my kitchen after tucking Alexis in for a nap and came upon this scene...
I'm sure looking back on it, they will tell me they were simply trying it out for their sister to make sure it was up to par. What sweet brothers, huh!?

A 'One'derful Celebration...

Over the weekend, we finally celebrated Alexis' 1st Birthday with family and friends by having a party for her at a local park. It was really odd for me trying to plan a party in the summer since I am used to winter birthdays, but once the venue was chosen, everything else fell into place. I was worried about the weather since it was an outdoor party, but it held up rather nicely. The little bit of rain we did get just helped make it a bit cooler.

And Aunt Patty...
Nana & Papa Millard loving on her...
Along with Uncle Chris & Aunt Mandy...
And Great Papa & Nana Millard, too...
After everyone finished eating lunch, it was time to sing Happy Birthday and cut the cake. One of my friends got me in touch with a girl who makes all kinds of cakes, and she was able to replicate the cupcake design from the theme I chose. It turned out great and tasted wonderful!
I was hoping Alexis would dive into the cupcake I gave her, but she pretty much reacted the same way she had a couple weeks ago on her birthday.
First she just stared at it...
She got a little more couragous and picked it up...
I tried giving her a taste since she wouldn't take a bite herself, but she spit it out...
And of course it was back to trying to get the frosting off her hands...
Whatever it is, get it OFF!...
Getting a little more into it...
After the cake, it was time to open up presents...
She was anxious to play with all her new toys after opening them...
After presents, it was on to the pinata...
Afterall, no party is complete without a pinata...
Diving in for the goodies...
It was a fun afternoon filled with lots of love and tons of fun. Thanks to everyone who came and made Alexis' special day more enjoyable!
