A Man Among Men...

Andrew's class was discussing heroes one day, and his teacher asked each of his classmates whom they considered a hero in their life. Many kids answered with their parents or grandparents, but Andrew chose my sister's boyfriend, Mark. You see, Mark is a police officer, and Andrew has grown really fond of him. As part of the discussion, his teacher had the kids then make their chosen hero an award and write why they chose them. Andrew's read: "My hero award goes to Mr. Mark. I chose him because he always does what is right and helps keep people safe."
A few nights after Andrew brought it home, my sister picked him up and together they went to Mark's police station to give him his award. Andrew was so excited to see Mark at his work with fellow officers, and even got to sit in the back of his police car. I think it may have even made him a bigger hero!

Easter-ific...

The kids woke up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed yesterday morning in excitement of finding what the Easter Bunny had left for them the night before.
First they found their baskets!
Austin checking out all his goodies...
Aaron digging into his basket...
Andrew checking out his stuff...
The boys showing off their new Ninjago Lego set...
Alexis sifting through her basket...
Once they all got a good look at the treasures in their baskets, it was on to the egg hunt! Andrew figured out a few months that there is no such thing as the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy, etc., so I let him help me hide the eggs the night before. And he did an awesome job making them easily accessible for the little ones.... and himself!
Alexis kicking off the egg hunt...
And trying to open them as she finds them...
Aaron getting in on the hunt...
Austin found one with his name on it...
Andrew searching for more eggs...

Aaron hitting egg gold...
Austin filling up his basket...
Andrew keeping the egg count even...
 Andrew showing off his eggs...
 Austin proud of his eggs...
The boys waiting to open their eggs...
Once all the eggs were collected, it was time to get ready and head off to church. After church we headed up to my sister and brother-in-laws house for Easter dinner with the rest of my family.
Andrew, Austin and Aaron donning their Easter outfits...
Opening up an Easter gift from Aunt Patty, Uncle Eric and Finn...
Alexis in her Easter dress...
Sporting her new purse and sunglasses from Aunt Patty, Uncle Eric and Finn...
Finn opening his Easter present from his cousins...
He was more enthralled with the tissue paper than the present itself...
Austin loving on Alexis...
Aaron spending some quality time with Finn...
Since my nieces were able to join us, we thought it would be nice to get a group shot of all the cousins together. And, well, let's just say it was easier said than done!
Attempt #1...
Attempt #2...
Attempt #3 turned out great -- minus a few kids...
After trying to make the kids sit still for pictures, we all thought it would be a good idea to take them down to the park to play. The kids loved playing on the merry-go-round, although it made us adults sick just watching them!
By the time the kids were ready to leave the park, it was time to take baths and head home. And even after being pumped full of sugar, the kids still went to bed with ease. Happy Easter to me!!!

So 'Egg'-cited...

Another Easter means another afternoon of dying eggs. I am glad some of the kids are getting older and able to do more of it on their own, but after 2 spills from Aaron (one that even dyed one of my chairs orange) I realized he has a little while to go until he can do this fun task on his own like his brothers. Nevertheless, it was a fun filled hour!
Andrew getting into the coloring spirit...
Aaron testing out the colored waters...
Austin patiently waiting for his egg...
Teamwork...
Aaron working hard to get his egg out...
Austin being very meticulous...
Andrew going green...
Aaron giving it another try after his spill...
